I came across this site, OwnIt.org, in reading about John Howkins, the author of “Creative Economy” in the Encyclopedia of China. OwnIt offers “free intellectual property advice for creative businesses.” Really useful, and a bit of a surprise to me as many of my creative economy friends are (still) hooked into the “information wants to be free” idea. But once you start creating yourself, protecting your IP (so you can make some money from that hard work) becomes quite appealing, especially in tough times.
