Barry Wellman is one of my favorite editors, a prolific writer and expert in Internet communities who came our way thanks to the Encyclopedia of Community. Paul Duguid suggested him as the editor for our technology editors and he was a superb and committed participant, in spite of our first rather acerbic encounter (he complained that our editorial board included no past president of the community section of the American Sociological Society).
He’s just let me know that his “40 years of HCI,” a personal chronology which we used as a sidebar in the Berkshire Encyclopedia of Human-Computer Interaction was reviewed in the Infobong.com blog 1 May 2005 as “funny and informative.”
