Cheng was a gifted student, who at age eighteen was already writing policy recommendation letters. Numerous high positions were repeatedly offered to him, which he rejected until the Emperor ordered him to become a professor at the Imperial Academy. Here he was highly revered by his students, who refered to him as a "genuine professor." His writings were included in the Er Cheng Quan Shu. Despite his accomplishments, Cheng reportedly remained a humble man. Source-- Portraits |

Ɖ ¤¶ ¥Û |
1887 |
1975 |
Originally named Jiang Jieshi, better known to the world as "Chiang Kai-shek"; One of the most crucial Chinese leaders, Chiang was a consummate leader in not only out-maneuvering his opponents but in his stature as a leader. Through the April 12th Coup in 1927 he assumed leadership of the GMD and as the Northern Expedition had been largely successful, he was able to establish a central government in Nanjing. He was the president and commander-in-chief for the next two decades, until the defeat by the CCP in 1949. The GMD government was in exile in Taiwan and Chiang and his son, Jiang Jingguo were able to initiate an economic recovery and boom, in a new career phase. Chiang Kai-shek's is a life that needs a comprehensive biography to be written. |
