Map and Directions

It takes about 3 hours to get to Great Barrington from Manhattan or from Boston by car. There are also bus and train services to the area. Metro-North train services extend to Wassaic, NY, Bonanza buses service Great Barrington, and Greyhound buses service Lee.

From the south
Route 7 or west, Routes 23/41: when you pass the intersection where Route 23/41 joins Route 7 from the west, you will be entering the downtown area of Great Barrington. The stone wall of Searles Castle will be on your right.

Go straight through the next set of traffic lights (Taconic Avenue).
At the next set of lights (Castle Street left, Bridge Street right - Town Hall will be to your left and Wheeler & Taylor Insurance to your right) turn left and park. You can also park on Main Street itself.

From the north and east
(Mass Turnpike), take Route 102 to Stockbridge and Route 7 south into Great Barrington. You'll cross a big brown bridge as Route 7 turns left into the center of town (there's a large bush that spells the letters "GB" on the hillside facing you at that intersection).

Drive through the Main Street area, where there are rather nice four-storey brick buildings, until you get to the traffic lights at Castle Street (Castle Street right, Bridge Street left - Town Hall will be ahead to your right and Wheeler & Taylor Insurance ahead to your left). Turn right and park on Castle Street, or park on Main Street itself.

On Castle Street across from Town Hall is the Castle Street Cafe, along with the entrance, No. 4, to the Mahaiwe Building offices. At the top of the stairs, turn right; Berkshire Publishing's reception is the second door on the right.

Parking: If there are no spaces on the street, you may be able to park in the lot at the top of Castle Street, past the Castle Street Cafe and the fire station. Alternatively, there is a large lot at the top of Railroad Street (turn left off Main Street when you see the Tune Street record store and follow the signs). Note that there is a two hour parking limit.
