“Most influential” Chinese include Sidney Shapiro

“American-born author Sidney Shapiro, 95, receives a lifetime-achievement award at the 2010-2011 Chinese Influencing the World awards ceremony.” via Honors for most influential. I had never heard of Shapiro, but he is one of a line of Westerners who have – under different regimes – made themselves a home in China. And one of a limited number who have been granted Chinese citizenship. I have a Chinese book about foreigners in China through history that I wish I could read. So far, I’ve only had the names translated. They include Russians, Japanese, French, English, and Americans. Perhaps another biographical project to come!
