The way this blog flips between local and global is a little dizzying, for me anyway, but that’s life in the global village. Now we’re back to the China-Tibet drama, and the way the Olympics is being used by various causes to boost their visibility. I’ve just read Duncan Mackay’s excellent piece in the London Observer, “I’m proud to carry the Olympic torch despite Tibet.” Duncan is one of the editors of our new book CHINA GOLD. I asked him to join us on it without discussing politics at all – after exchanging a lot of emails and having a drink last time I was in London – but I’m not surprised to find that he takes such a reasonable position about both China and the Games.
