Here’s an article worth reading, from the Economist: “A week in Tibet: Trashing the Beijing Road.” I’ve been watching the TV series “Band of Brothers” with Tom and saw an episode tonight in which one of the heroes was contemplating his killing of a young German soldier. My youngest brother Dan was in the first Iraq War and claims to have subscribed to the Economist (actually, I think I gave him a gift subscription at one point) because he wanted to understand, “why they were shooting at me and why I was shooting at them.” Probably a great mistake in the circumstances, but even more so in the current war. But a great read for the rest of us.
