There are many countries where free speech is not a right â€“ or at least not much of a reality. And the United States is certainly not perfect in this regard. But walking back to my hotel in Washington one morning last week, I relished the overt displays of protest against the current administration that are set up immediately opposite the White House. And not because I agree with the specific claims. Thatâ€™s not the point. Itâ€™s wonderful to think that we still respect the right of individuals and groups to speak their mind, even when they dress up a photo of the president, George W. Bush, in an Arab headdress and long beard, and title it, â€œThe Real Terrorist.â€
